And that is the difference about highschool and uni. As long as it's a regular lecture, where the person just talks, majority of uni professors don't care if you come late or leave early. Same thing why an old witch who barely finished college wants you to kiss her ass while the guy who invented the whole subject of the class asks you to call him Tim.

Our professors don't give shit if we are a late for class. We don't have to be there and it's our own responsibility getting the knowledge we need to pass our exams. We have guys who are 30 min late everyday.

Class don’t start without the Professor though. And most Professors only care if you are stupid late. As well, all classes in America at least, are automatically cancelled if the Prof hasn’t arrived within 20 minutes of the class start time.

Former faculty here. Teaching is one part of the job - running late because of some departmental rubbish means that you’re late for your job because you were doing your job. I would not allow entry to students who reached later than a certain time because a) their whole purpose of being in university was to attend classes b) they wouldn’t be able to catch up to the lecture, so their time was better spent elsewhere c) soft skills that were being taught included professionalism and punctuality.

Except the prof is only one person. If even less than half of his ~100 students were late for the lecture, because they know they can do it freely, the lecture is going to be a hot mess for the first 20 min. This is thinking of others, not only ourselves. Of course, if the prof is constantly late for his classes, students can go to the dean. Easy as it is.

Professors at my university will still let you in if you are late, but will marked you as absent. He said "I won't deny you your education, but try not be tardy all the time"

My college has a rule.If all students are late by 15mins, the lecture can dismiss the class. If the lecturer is late by 30mins, the students can dismiss the class.

Im a teacher. I dont really mind if the student is late.... its their fault and they are the ones who suffer if they lack some knowledge at the end of the class/subject. Sure i mind if they interrupt my lecture by being loud as fuck trying to sit down or shuffle their things, but otherwise its ok (since i teach both high school and adult groups). btw.... im always 10-20min early as i have my own classroom and the door is always wide open when im in so they don't have to wait behind the door and they themselves message me when im not there the exact minute the class is about to begin to get an update on my arrival time.
